Personal Views regarding Dress Code

During our  previous tutorial that was on 26th of September 2012 ,Miss Yoon questioned us whether there should be a dress code for the teachers. Miss Yoon also asked for our opinion whether the teachers can enter the class with rainbow dyed hair, sloppy jeans, slippers and baggy shirts.Based on my opinion ,I think it is inappropriate to enter the classroom in such manner. Now,let me explain in detail.

First of all, a teacher should portray a professional person's image or follow the dress code because students especially primary school kids accept their teacher as their role model and more likely to follow their style. Lets say, when the mother of the kid prohibits her child from wearing indecent and exposed clothes, the first thing that they would likely to mention is ''My teacher can wear it, why not me ?''  and   ''My teacher is my role model and I just follow her, anything wrong? '' Don't get surprised. This is the fact and you have no other choice rather than coming into agreement. This is what likely to happen if you wear such indecent or baggy clothes to the classroom.

Next, you are just degrading yourself or to be  precise, you are  just digging your own grave. Haha.. Remember! Kids nowadays are very judgemental. When you are in an  inappropriate attire, you can’t even advise them. They won’t listen to you and they will talk behind your back  like ‘‘aah..let it be..she just know how to advise people. She also didn’t follow it. Just look at her attire... What right she has to teach me about moral and ethics?’’.I’m trying to say is that the students will not pay any respect to you if you couldn’t watch your dress code.

Finally, I would like to say that teachers are professionals and our task does not end in teaching subject. We have to play multiple role which are as a teacher, mother and a good friend. When students like and love us(teachers), it would be easier for us  to conduct the lessons in classrooms and directly provides a better learning environment. I didn’t do any survey regarding this issue. What I mentioned above just now fully based on my true experience . I speak what’s on my mind and heart. I’m sorry if anyone get hurt or offended with my views.  My sincere apologies to all.

                                                                                       Thank You.
