We were asked to find a message from inbox. We are required to describe the emotion of the sender and expand the original sentence to at least 30 words.

Original message:

``Jeevy,wake up!!!’’

Expanded version:

Her head felt so heavy that she can’t even lift it from her white, fluffy pillow. Her deep sleep was disturbed by the sounds of birds chirping. As loud as they were screaming turbulently. She feels irritated and looks around the room half-consciously.  She startled when her eyes caught up to one of the post –its she pasted on the wall. She has a library induction to be attended! She grabbed her phone hastily and texted her friend, Jeeivita right afterwards.A bundle of nervousness travels down her whole body. She grabbed her towel and rushed for bath.

Teaching Writing Skills Using Videos

My group were assigned to come up with new lesson plan which is by integrating videos to teach writing skills. The objective of this task is to come up with a lesson plan which is fun and interesting. My group members are Stennia, Madiey, Nabila Hamdan, Saleha and I, myself had proposed our videos yesterday on the way to teach writing skills. Each and every member came up with a video. As a member of the group, I also had come up with the idea of using an advertisement to teach writing skills. The normal question that may arise `how is that done?’ For my part, I just mute the advertisement video.

Later, the students are required to observe the facial expressions and gestures of the actor and actress and describe on what they see. However Miss Yoon suggested that writing a descriptive essay must be hard for the students. Instead of asking the students to write the descriptive essay, it is best to ask them to write dialogues. By applying this method, the students will learn the format of the dialogue and at the same time, they will find it fun and interesting to learn. Don’t you think so?

Best of luck to those who wanted to apply this method to teach writing skills. :)

Summary Regarding Strengths and Weaknesses of Integration Social Networking Tools into ESL Writing Classroom.

Social networking sites(SNS) promotes the students to develop their creative thinking skills as well as improve their virtual socialising skills and bridges connection  with lecturers by sharing their opinions and interests. SNS also helps to upgrade the students writing skills as they can obtain more information from Internet and relate them to their work. Even though SNS sites contributes various advantages but still SNS sites can be distractive and time consuming as they have to design creatively and the limited access to Internet worsen the situation. In addition, the students also may feel awkward to communicate with lecturers in reality due to interaction via social networking sites.
